World of Warcraft: Tips for leveling up the priest class

There are few classes in World of Warcraft that are always in-demand. DPS classes are a dime a dozen and are interchangeable; as long as their damage output is decent, it doesn't matter who they are. A good healer however, is invaluable and is always in-demand!

Leveling a priest is not the easiest, however the rewards as you level are well worth the trouble. When it comes to the higher levels, you will almost always be guaranteed a spot in the raid or dungeon of your choice.

First and foremost, which race makes for the best priest? There are few classes where built-in racial skills and racial class spells really make a difference. Priests are one of the biggest exceptions as racial traits can make a huge difference in your play experience.

However, that should not stop you from rolling the character you are most interested in! Chances are, you're going to be spending hours, days, months and quite possibly years playing your priest - make sure it is something you will be happy with for the time to come.

If appearance isn't important and your only concern is in picking the "best priest class" within your chosen faction, these following tips are for you...

As far as Alliance goes, the ideal Alliance priest has changed over the years. It used to be that you were most desirable if you rolled a Dwarf for the class racial at that time: Fear Ward. Once The Burning Crusade expansion pack came out however, Draenei were also graced with Fear Ward. Fear Ward was by far and away the strongest racial talent amongst the Alliance (and possibly Horde) priest ranks. Because of this, Blizzard decided in Patch 2.3 to change Fear Ward from a 30-second cast available only to Dwarves and Draenei and make it a three-minute cooldown skill available to all priest races, Alliance and Horde. In place of Fear Ward, both Draenei and Dwarves received Chastise - a damage ability.

At this point, Humans are considered to be one of the stronger Alliance choices for the priest class. The Human Spirit racial trait is an excellent feature for priests. The 10 percent spirit increase it provides is a major boon for a priest that is looking to focus on the spirit attribute and added mana regeneration. As far as class-specific racial traits go, Desperate Prayer can be a godsend. The instant cast spell that uses no mana is a great heal for getting out of a bad situation and can save you on many an occasion.

When it comes to Horde, it is general consensus that Undead is the way to go for both healing and shadow
