I was taking my granddaughter to school this morning. She asks, once in the truck, "how come Papa doesn't go to auctions and flea markets like he use to?" I told her we didn't have as much money as we use to. Now you have to understand, almost a year ago we took on the grandkids. A boy fourteen and and eleven year old girl. You know how far money goes when you have children?
She asked why we didn't have as much anymore. I told her, we have alot of bills and Papa always pays them, then he helps people who have less, so the rest of the money goes to them.
She said "Uhm, that don't seem right" I said "Papa just does what he thinks Jesus would want him to do". She says "that don't seem right, wouldn't Jesus want him to take care of his family first"? I said back to her, cause it was all I could come up with; " you have food in your belly, a roof over your head, and nice clothes on your back, others don't have that".
That kind of put her in her place, and I know she thought. She said you are right grandma.
I think this is a lesson. Never take for granted what you have. Someone else always has less and worse. What would Jesus do? I was on my way home and thought about this conversation. I hoped I said the right thing. I hope I bring a light to their young eyes. What would Jesus do?
So I stopped at a store to get some coffee. There was this guy I have seen around town wheeling himself in a chair, because he was hit by a car. It really was a bad accident. I knew of him and had seen him, but didn't know him. I said "Hi Willy, how are you?" and all that, as I walked into the store. I came back out and he was still there with his little dog on a leash. I said, "Willy, are you and the dog walking?" and he said yeah, but he was use to it. I said "Why don't I just give you a ride home". Now Willy is really crippled and on deaths door. He said, "Thank ya mam", so we got in the truck. I took him to the cornor of his street and dropped him off. Then it hit me, WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? So I backed up and said "Willy come back here for a minute." He sat back down in the front seat, and I said "Willy?, do you believe in God?" He just sank, and said "I guess". I told him I did and I would faith enough for both of us. I actually put my hands on him and prayed and asked God to show him the way, and to relieve his pain. He jumped out of the truck and turned and said "thank you"..and off he walked with his dog. I hoped I did the right thing. WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?
