On the advice of his attorney, Beach Boy's legend, Mike Love, has gone back into the studio to record a new single just in time for Valentine's Day. Love is currently being sued by fellow band mate and friend of almost 50 years, Al Jardine. Jardine is seeking to use the Beach Boys name for his new touring band, but Love has copyrighted the name and uses it exclusively for his band. Love hopes this tender-hearted ballad will bring the two back together and put a stop to the lawsuit.
Be My Al-entine
Written by Mike Love
Verse 1
I woke up late this morning when I heard my cell phone ring.
My lawyer told me I was being sued by Al Jardine.
I jumped out of my bed and reached over for my hat.
So, this is how it feels to be sued, imagine that.
It seems that no one knows you and you've ended up dirt poor.
And, you want to use The Beach Boys name when you go tour.
Well, we can work this out, Alan, you don't have to sue.
So, drop your suit and listen to this song I sing for you.
Chorus
You sued me once and then you sued me twice.
I thought to myself, "Now this ain't nice."
I am the one who's supposed to sue,
and I'm wondering just what's got into you.
So, let's just forget and put this behind,
And, Alan, won't you be my Al-entine.
Verse 2
I think of all the time we've spent together through the years.
And, it helps me understand why you're sitting there in tears.
We're not as different as they make us out to be.
We're both blonde and balding, it's just I have more money.
I know that you get laughed at for your scary lack of height.
And, it's tough for you to stand next to a legend every night.
But, all that's in the past and we can forget about it now.
If you just drop the suit and help me sing "I Get Around."
Repeat Chorus
Verse 3
Cupid came and he drew back his bow.
He didn't hit my heart, but his arrow struck my toe.
I guess that what I'm tryin' to say,
Is that I love you in a "manly" way.
So, this February won't you be mine?
Just drop that suit and you can be my Al-entine.
Repeat Chorus twice
