The Robert Trent Golf Trail is a wonderful collection of pristine, beautifully manicured golf courses in the state of Alabama, a trail designed for a golfing experience you will remember. The group of course runs for miles but they are all within striking distance of each other and are often played by groups on one golf vacation. The opportunity exists to buy a Trail Card which you can use to play the courses at a reduced rate as part of a package.

The golf courses are all beautifully designed and are maintained very well with greens like billiard tables. The attention to detail is excellent, including the way golfers are cared for when they arrive at the course. The trail is a great way to play golf with friends and is perfect for a golfing vacation where you can travel from one location to the next in a short time each day.

My favorite is Cambrian Ridge with the Loblolly and Sherling nine hole courses making up a great eighteen. The weather in Alabama is generally very good even if a little hot in high summer. The key is to start playing early enough in order to avoid the heat of the day and any afternoon thunderstorms. The courses can be played all year round such is the climate in this southern state and this adds to the appeal of the trail.

My first experience of playing Trent Jones Cambrian Ridge was with a friend Duke who lives only a half hour from Greenville where the course is located. Having played most of my golf in my home country of Scotland, it was a pleasure to play a course that was beautifully manicured and with greens that were smooth and true. Scotland may well be considered the home of golf but the weather is often atrocious and the greens uneven and hard in the summer in spite of the regular rainfall.

By comparison, Trent Jones golf courses are like paradise and the type of course I would choose to play at any time. If you have the opportunity to visit the USA from another country, I would recommend heading for Alabama and the Trent Jones Golf Trail. The same is true if you live in the USA in another state. Take a trip South and experience some excellent courses. The concept behind the Trent Jones Trail is to allow golfers of all levels to experience beautiful courses, challenging yet enjoyable. Robert Trent Jones has left a wonderful legacy of a string of pristine courses that will give you hours of pleasure as you take to the fairways with your golfing friends.
