Affiliate marketing is one of the reasons why the internet has been such a huge success. It allows companies to perform effective ad campaigns and for the normal public to earn money. I have personally met some high earning affiliate marketers over the internet, most of which are earning six figuire cheques every month BUT I have also met many affiliate marketers who have earn little or no money.

So what seperates the successful marketers from the failed ones?

The answer is quite easy, the mistakes. Most of the failed affiliate marketers were performing many common mistakes. Some of those common mistakes are described below:

Some affiliates do not build an email list:

This is one of the most biggest mistake an affiliate can make. It is great to make sales through new customers BUT it is better to make sales from your old ones. There are several ways of building list, a highly popular method would be to offer a free product or service in exchange for their information. It is also really important to send them RELEVANT emails every now and then.

Some affiliates buy email lists:

This is another enormous fault between affiliate marketers. As important as it is to build a list, it is more important to not buy one. By buying a list your are wasting money and time simply because they do not know you and you do not know them. For this straight forward reason they will simply unsuscribe.

Some affiliates spend more then they receive:

This is an obvious mistake but it is made by literally huge amount of affiliates. They spend more money bringing traffic then they can afford to. You can actually get traffic for free on the internet nowadays by using forums or by writing articles.

Some affiliates overload their site with affiliate links:

It is important to not over advertise as it might cause your customer to freak out and leave your site. You should provide him with as low options as possible so the customer will click on the website.

Keep your website as simple as possible:

DO NOT USE FANCY COLOURS. For example have a look at google, it is the simplest search engine and earns the most out of them all

Keep away from these common mistakes and you should do fine as and affiliate marketer. Also keep in mind that you should always keep your links up to date and you should try to take the customer's email information whenever possible.
