Getting through life when all seems lost

by Robert Grymes

Created on: August 26, 2008

My Salvation Found In Silence

To what do I owe my peace of mind
To whom do I impart my thanks and gratitude
(It is to He, that I would give my all)

Why then are there so many times
I falter upon the task of singing praises and giving thanks
(It is not for me to judge the merits worthy, or not so)

Yet by definition
It is my judgments that have blinded me to the truth

(All Enduring, Everlasting, Undeserved Forgiveness in His Grace)

There is no higher calling
Than this task in life you've given me
(Than to show the world, your light through each and every part of me)

There's no deeper meaning
Than within the volumes you've shared while in silence next to me
(Even in my darkest night, you've whispered and gracefully showed your love to me)

And when I've stumbled and dashed against that errant stone
Forgotten that place within me, you've always called your Home
(Believed for a moment, that you were not always with me)

I've forsook your sacrifice
By leaning unto my own wisdom
(That such simple truths as this, that only by Your Hands Am I Led)

And out of the darkness I must stumble humbly into Your Light
Forsake my judgment and feel what is right
(For in your sight cannot an Evil thing Lay, upon your gaze all shadows run away)

In my foolish wisdom
I've looked upon your work with eyes that could not see
(Believe all the answers, could be found without you in my stead)

Yet even unto the end of the Earth, and after time's final sand grain has fallen
Your all abiding light defeats the darkest night
(And all that are loose and stray will be called in)

Had not you always been there
To see my heart through this shadowed valley travail
(When my gaze so often drifted from love and trust to faithlessness and fear for things to come)

This you said to me in a whisper too painful to hear
My Child were it not for times such as these
(That I am ever Near)

By your example of love without end
Your gift to me to shine for all to see
(Was that my broken heart was set to mend)

As you have said so many times before
I knew you before the world in which you were eschewed
(I've loved you all the more no matter how much my light you've subdued)

For it is simple you see when you Come unto Me
Do not fear for the judgment of Men
(Grieve only for your doubt of my ever ready hand)

When your eyes have become blinded by a vain and false thing
And your heart surrounded by any needless and petty thing
(Always remember that in the silence of your patiently attentive soul)

That by my light, this day, your sight can be forever restored again.
