How can I be lonely?
A dark sentinal on the moor,
Ankles clawed by the sodden gorse,
And cold from winter's store.
How can I be lonely?
Like a leaf upon the sea,
Hoping for some friendly shore,
To come and take pity upon me.
How can I be lonely?
Wide eyed exhibit in a zoo,
I see them all smiling at me,
But they're just not getting through.
How can I be lonely,
A train upon the track,
A lonesome journey to the end,
From which I'll never come back.
How can I be lonely?
A vessel tied to the quay,
The passengers wait upon the dock,
But my gangplank can't be seen.
How can I be lonely,
It doesn't make any sense,
I have my family around me,
But this feeling won't relent.
How can I be lonely,
I guess it's down to me,
Unless I let my drawbridge down,
Never will I be free.

You have turned and fled
How could you help me
If I cannot help myself?

Cigarette burns low
The neighbors phone rings off the hook

All alone in a busy place
With a fake smile upon her face
Her soul once free now cry's so loudly
But you cant tell because
