Radio talk shows worth listening to

Coast to Coast with George Noury is a great radio talk show. He took over the helm from Art Bell, who is one of my favorite hosts and who has since gone into semi-retirement. George Noury does an admirable job filling in for the master, and his guests usually talk about interesting subjects.

If you like to hear about UFO's, astronomy, natural phenomona, life after death and other bizzare subjects, this is your show. It is on late at night, starting at ten pm in the west. Sometimes that is a problem for me, as I am usually nodding off, but those nights where I am up, I tune into the show.

Some of my favorite shows involve scientists who specialize in physics, and it is always interesting to hear the latest on the cutting edge in the physics world. Subjects like the CERN experiment coming up are fascinating. This is where the largest atom smasher in the world is about to gear up to smash atoms into smithereens. What is produced from smashing these atoms is what the hubbub is all about. The scientists are looking for very small particles that eminate from the collisions.

This is tricky business, as this is uncharted territory in the atomic world. What possibilities they find could have astounding ramifications for the world. For instance, they may find anti-gravity particles that could be harnessed for anti-gravity flight. How about particles that solve our energy needs? Small black holes? These are just some of the possibilities the scientists could encounter. This is fascinating stuff, and I never tire of listening to authorities on the subject.

Space travel is another common theme on Coast to Coast. What NASA is doing now and in the future is a popular item on the show. When are we going to build a base on the moon? They say 2020 which is around the corner. How about a manned mission to Mars? I'm sure that will zoom to the top of the television ratings. Faster than light travel? It is not going to be science fiction anymore. Scientists have stated it is possible by bending space in front of the spacecraft, like Star Trek's warp drive. How can anyone not find this stuff fascinating?

New solutions to the energy crises is another good topic. Talks about wind power and solar power are common with some of his guests. Where and what these people are installing is very interesting and a virtual wellspring of ideas usually follows.

Guests call in with all sorts of subjects and spirited debates are common. I wish the show was on earlier, but it can always be downloaded to listen to during the day as well.

I suggest you give it a listen to. If you are even marginally interested in some of these topics you have a winner on your hands. Coast to Coast with George Noury is one-of-a-kind.
