The importance of discussions with friends

by Angel Sharum

Friends make the world a brighter place, give you a port in life's stormy seas, and are just plain fun. A confidante, mentor, shoulder to lean on, and advisor; friends are something no one should be without. Having friends to talk to and discuss things with is very important. Sometimes a friend is the only one who knows how to help!

Friends know you inside out and still like you. They accept your faults and love you for your quirks. These things make discussions with friends easy and lead to heartfelt talks.
Sometimes you want a perspective that you can't get from a parent or spouse. Your friends will see you differently than family members and offer a very different take on a situation.

You are able to pour your heart out to a friend without fear of being rejected for what you think. You can tell them anything and know that they will still be there for you. Although friends don't always agree with each other, they do try to understand. A true friend will always try to understand what you are saying and help solve a problem you have. They'll let you get it all out and help you see what can be done. Often just telling a friend a problem is enough to help you see what needs done. Just having somewhere to get the problem out in the open helps you figure it out.

Discussions with friends have save marriages, decided careers, and kept families from falling apart. You can't put a value on the importance of talking with friends. These are just some of the many ways that discussions with friends are helpful.

A real friend will be honest with you during discussions. They'll tell you the stuff you want to hear along with things you need to hear. Being honest with your friends is the best gift you can give them. That way they always know where they stand and what you think. People will come to you for advice and understanding when they know you will always be honest with them.

Never underestimate the importance of discussions with friends. Don't take your friends for granted. Let them know how much they mean to you and how you value their opinion. An honest, open friendship is a true treasure and you don't want to do anything to jeopardize it. Nurture the friendship with love, acceptance, and understanding, and you will be rewarded ten fold.

When you have a best friend, you won't make any of life's important decisions without discussing it with them first. That's just how important discussions with friends are.
