Will Daniel Radcliffe have a career after Harry Potter, or will he be Harry for life?

Daniel Radcliffe will probably have a career after Harry Potter, but only if it's what he really wants. It might be in the theater rather then in movies and it probably won't be easy. Most people still view him as the young boy they met when the films began and that is a really hard image to break, especially since they are still in production.

The newest Harry Potter film was due to come out in November of 2008, but has now been pushed back and won't be released until Spring 2009. It's believed this is due to the fact Daniel will be preforming in a play called Equus on Broadway. In this play he will be nude, and there are a few other sexual elements as well. He also preformed in the play over in London while on break from filming movies. Apparently his performance is great, but it really isn't a family friendly. Not something you want connected with the release of a family film.

Daniel seems to be trying to break the image people have of him, and Harry Potter. This is why he may decided to stick to theater acting rather then continue in films. It would be a better way to break free of the Harry Potter image that way. His other roles in films and television miniseries have gone nearly unnoticed but his theater debut caused quite the stir. After all, there is no better way to make the statement that you're more then just a boy wizard then to appear naked on stage.

There is also the possibility he might take time off once he finished with Harry Potter and return in small or independent films. Taking risks with the roles he chooses could pay off well for him.

It would be a shame if he gave up on acting altogether. Mr. Radcliffe is very talented and I'm sure given time he can prove himself in other roles but I'm sure that all the pressure that comes with being the star of a franchise could be enough to make him turn away from acting. No one could blame him, if it's not fun anymore or not worth it then why keep trying? Moving on and doing something you love is much better then worrying about falling into the stereotype of child actors not quitting while they're ahead and becoming material for gossip magazines and websites.

He is only nineteen so he has time to figure out what he wants out of life. If it's acting then hopefully he will have a long and successful career. With his current situation, with the play causing them to push back the movie release, we can see that he is trying regardless of what people might think.
