Possible reasons for leaving a current job

There could be several reasons for leaving your current job, among them, you're just not satisfied with it anymore. A word of caution though, make sure you will be able to get along without your current job until something better comes along, if it hasn't already, when you leave.

Here are some reasons for possibly leaving a current job.

Retirement may be a very good reason for leaving your current job. I'm at that point in my life right now. I don't know if I should keep on working a little longer, being I'm still in fairly good health, and I do enjoy my job, or should I retire and enjoy life to its fullest. I'm teetering with this decision right now, and I haven't decided which way to go yet.

Whatever I decide, I know it will be final. There will be no turning back, at least with my current job. It will be the end of my employment at this company, so I have to be very careful and weigh all the options before I make that final decision.

You have found a better job, is a very good reason for leaving a job.
You may have been searching for a different job for quite awhile and now you found it. It could be a better paying job, in a totally different field. If the decision looks like it will make you happier in your area of employment, go for it. Life is short, sometimes we need to step out of our safe zone and take chances, and hope for the best.

Your company downsized and you were forced to leave your current position. This may not be a good situation to be in, but it happens to hundreds of workers every year. You need to move on as quickly as possible and find another job, like it or not. You don't want to be out of the job market too long, if at all possible.

Relocation can be another reason for leaving a current job. Either you or your spouse had to relocate for any number of reasons, so you have to leave the job you are holding, and move on.
Sometimes this can be a good thing, and sometimes it can have negative affects. The good thing is you get to meet new people, and encounter new experiences. If you can't find new job opportunities right away though, it may have negative affects, especially if you need employment for your livelihood, which is the case for many individuals.

A very bad reason for leaving your current job, could be termination for some sort of misconduct. This can be devastating at the time, but you need to try and pick up the pieces, brush yourself off, and start all over again. If you need help getting through the situation, whatever it was, seek the help you need, and move on. We all have trials and tribulations in our lives. We just need to try and move on and learn from them the best we can.

I'm a firm believer in the saying, "When God closes a door, he opens a window." I know I have found that true in situations in my lifetime.

Whatever the reason for leaving a current job, it will definitely open up your world to new experiences. Try and learn from this and enjoy all each day has to offer, the good, as well as the bad. Look at this as a new chapter in the book of life.
