Don's head was spinning when he awoke Sunday morning. As he sat up in bed, his first thoughts were to call CJ and tell him about the wild dream he had. The dream was so intense, it almost seemed real. He was surprised he could remember anything at all, considering he could barely open his eyes. The sunlight coming through his window was almost like swords cutting into his eyeballs. As he sat on the side of the bed, Don decided that he would have to wait until some of his queasiness subsided before he could call CJ or anyone else for that matter.
He put his head in his hands and thought once again about the dream. He and CJ had been in it as had some of their other friends, both male and female. Don remembered Melvin, Rachel and Pete, specifically and kind of recalled Laura, Ben and Ben's girlfriend Kim being in the dream also. They were all at a party at some club. The name wouldn't come to him now, no matter how hard he tried. Maybe if he got up and washed his face and brushed his teeth, he'd feel better. He knew he had drank at the party, but didn't think he'd had enough to cause a hangover. They had all drank, danced and had a good time. They'd danced with each other, alone and with other people. They'd bought drinks for themselves and each other. Yeah, the drinks had gone around, Don now remembered with a slight smile. They had all left the club at about the same time and he and CJ rode together, Don driving. Ben and Kim said they would drop Laura off and Don thought he remembered Rachel saying she was going to wait for her mom. Melvin and Pete left at the same time they did, but said they were going to another club.
As they said their goodbyes and got into their respective cars, Don remmbers telling CJ that he thought Ben was too drunk to drive. CJ mumbled something dumb like "Look who's talking, dude!", and Don drove him home. When they got to CJ's house, CJ got out and walked around the back of the car toward the side of his house, waving. When Don couldn't see CJ anymore, he backed out of the driveway slowly. He knocked down one of the recycling containers and rolled over it, thinking to himself that CJ's
