A Miracle
We have the house
Room enough for three
A spare room
with blank, white walls
calling out for someone
to give us inspiration
to paint them in brilliant colors
that will speak to who they are
and to who they are going to be.
We have always hoped that someday
we would hear the pitter patter
of little feet running through the house.
Up and down the hall
Around the furniture
The sound of a child's laughter
creating new life in
every room of the house.
Somedays I look out
the window above the kitchen sink
and try to envision a child
of our very own running, playing
day after day in the backyard.
For it truly is a place
where a child can feed
their growing apetite to
discover the world around them.
A place where they can
basque in the sun.
A place where they
can learn that taking time
out to play is the secret to
being happy, having fun.
Still it is only a dream.
A dream that should be so close
seems to be far beyond our reach.
For it would take a miracle
for us to someday have
a little blessing of our own.
Still we patiently wait
with our arms wide open
for someone to come into
our lives, our home.
A miracle to complete this family.
Make our house a home.

When do I stop?
When do I realize it's enough?
Why does it have to be me
who has it so tough?
There are many out there
who are
Motherhood denied,
might as well be my life.
Alone, lonely...
worse still, empty.
I cannot shake the feeling
of being so utterly
