Where writers find inspiration

To write, one must be provided with a form of inspiration, though the nature of the motivation is as diverse as the words we will use to characterize our stimulation. Inspiration is the the key to the projection of the written word.

A rose is just a rose! Or is it more? Is this ornate blossom an instigator in the verse of a poetic sonnet, or a source of discovery for a chapter on the symbol of love?

A vacation to the remotest island, an illness suffered and overcome, or an achievement full of pride. All avenues can equip a writer with the necessary incentives for the sharing of their experiences.

The guiding light that drives a writer to produce material will appear before them in many shapes and forms. A sight, a sound, an event or adventure, even the thought of financial rewards. The darkest corner, a field of golden pastures, the emotional turmoil of a broken heart, all with the potential to generate dialog.

At periods in our vocation we are infected with the disabling ''disease'' of ''writers block.'' A blank piece of paper and a mind that refuses to concentrate on the task in hand. A flicker of life, then a blanket of darkness. One question repeated,''Where is the key?'' A search for inspiration to penetrate this barrier and allow the words to flow freely.

What inspired me to write this piece, this collection of words in answer to a question? Simple! My ''inspiration'' came from words themselves. The simple collaboration of letters within the question of ''Where writers find inspiration?'' provided the key and subsequent motivation.

What one may dismiss as an empty barrel will provide another with the background for a thousand words. The mind reacts to the stimulation of senses; the eyes, the ears, the beating heart. Feelings are aroused with a desire to express, a mind revolving with the need for release, through words.

Inspiration is everywhere! It lies beneath the moss covered stone, it hovers in the twilight sky. Either you will discover it in the most uninhabitable of lands, or it will seek you out and fate will bring you together.

It cannot always be freely divulged where a ''writer'' can seek out inspiration, because it is not always a planned procedure. The motivation can choose to appear in an instant, as an event unfolds in actual time, or a person may travel to a secret hiding spot for comfort and tranquility to gather one's own thoughts.

In general, life is the inspiration, but we may need to look at our own separate fields to write our words.
