Should we switch from paper to electronic bank (and other) statements?
The answer would have to be yes. We should utilize our technology as much as possible for electronic banking. It does help tremendously in keeping our account(s) safe. It is easier, and does develop fewer problems for us to choose this way. Certainly, less problems with anything to do with our money endevours, is bound to make us feel more at ease and relaxed in life.
Is it a perfect way, you may wonder? No, nothing is done perfect, we must never expect the banking system or anything in life to be perfect. But it does have more room for sufficiency than paper banking. In the using of paper for bank accounts, we are unknowingly, inviting trouble to our most personable existence in life. There are problems from time-to-time, but thanks to the technology of computers for today, those times are less since it can mostly be discovered by someone. And, because of technology, it may be determined whose fault, it actually could be.
I am not sure we should trust strangers who handle our paperwork as we do for ourselves. There are many in the banking companies who see the papers handled. There are also too many hands on it when it needs to go through the mailing process. This country trusts too many unknown people who handle papers we would rather not share with our own relatives. I am amazed at why we do this, when it could be anyone picking up the account and walking around with it. Fraud is on the rise in our world. Electronic banking is a more 'controlled' system of banking.
If we want to make it even easier than this, we can monitor our own accounts online, daily. We can detour any unwanted usage of our cards or abuse of our accounts, almost immediately. The longer this technology is used, the more sufficient the banking institution becomes, in remedy the situation. You are overall, less inconvenienced now, in banking problems than you were ten years ago. Electronic banking has come far.
Our security is at risk with paper. Sure, we shred, but only last night on the news, it was found shredded checks were used as packing paper for an establishment. And the checks were not fully shredded; the account numbers, signatures were still shown. Imagine a bank statement lying around the garbage as it is sorted on a conveyor belt. Anyone could take your information then also, and your life is changed.
Mistakes are at a minimum with electronic banking. No paper for forgery and less handling of signed papers. No more, do you have to worry about ordering checks or getting mail with the statement. (Mail does have tendency to rise in price but not improve on delivery.)
Life makes it easier for us to use the computer system when we shop. Why not enjoy it?
