BEAST
The beast that slept beneath the placid lake
Has risen up with venom in its breath.
No warning did it give to those who dwell
Within its trusting, calm and loving realm,
But spat forth flame with searing heat that scorched
And left its lifelong scars beneath their skin.
Its wounding done, it drags its loathsome bulk
Beneath the troubled waterline to sulk.

Anger
Where do I display the anger brought my way

Invasion

by Lisa Kates

Shrouded in black leather
Innocence twisted
Imaginations kidnapped
Anger
Leaning on battered park benches
Shouting brave
