Advice for the advanced lucid dreamers.
Apart from the mysticism, five step programs of controlling your dreams, and a thousand to choose from psychic books on how to become the Jedi master of lucid dreams. Let's here assume, you've already mastered the art of lucid dreaming, you're looking for some new ideas regarding activities promoting self-discovery, and how to best allocate your time in a lucid dream when having the good fortune of staying in one.
My first suggestion is stop trying to fly. This is a newbie desire originating from our years of trying to achieve lucid dreaming, resulting in cementing that incessant habit of trying to instantly take flight the second you know you're dreaming, rightfully knowing that cherished awareness all too soon fades away. Sure flying is always fun, but don't let this impulse ruin the rare opportunity of self-discovery by acting like some bouncing pigeon desperate to fly in one of the most sought after alternative forms of awareness.
One way of breaking this habit is once you know you're dreaming, then instantly bring your face down to the ground, and start chewing on anything around you; on your own shoelaces if you have to. The absurdity of this activity prolongs the knowledge you're dreaming for hopefully reasons obvious, and also provides a new experience in testing the kinesthetic accuracy of crawling around looking to chew on something silly. Also, I've noticed smell and taste are a quality in dreams that are often weak. In my experience, focusing on what something in your dream smells like somehow enhances the overall vividness of the dream, and later helps with dream recall.
Another suggestion is never turn your lucid dreams into a cheap porn flick. This always allows unfruitful dreaming habits, and usually results in a rapidly fading lucid dream because you woke up from getting too excited. Instead, try to find a computer in your dream world and search the net for noble interests. It's incredible what you will see and discover.
Lastly, simply try praying, dedicating your lucid dream to worship. For me, nothing happened when praying in the first several lucid dream events until around the third attempt. As I was praying, suddenly three Jewish Rabbis approached me imploring me to wake up, and read The Five Books of Moses. And that's exactly what I did. These types of lucid dreams allow for a true continuity of purpose between your waking life and sleeping one.
