Quarter At A Time

She tossed him a quarter, and said" play one for me".
She watched as he dropped it, in the slot of the machine.
She stood and watched him play, and he looked so very fine.
She didn't know it at the time, but her heart was on the line.

While he was dropping quarters, and winning his part.
She was watching him, and loosing her heart.
I guess she didn't know, what was really on the line.
She was loosing her heart, a quarter at a time.

She watched him drop his quarters, in the slot of the machine.
Her heart begin to flutter, but what did it mean.
She knew that she liked him, but was it more than it seemed.
She's loosing her heart to the man, playing on the quarter machine.

Sometimes life's a gamble, whether it's your money or your heart.
If you don't play the game, then you'll never win your part.
He knew what he was doing, her heart was on the line.
He was winning her love, a quarter at a time.
