The first date can be as difficult and stressful as getting married, especially if you don't know what to say. The first things to remember about a first date is that this the opportunity for some one-on-one with that person that you met at that (name a place). Of course you want to impress them, but you don't want to lie.
On a first date, whether you take them to dinner, or go bowling, or a day date on the beach, remember that eye contact, body language, and verbal communication are key. A man or a woman will probably never talk to you again if you don't talk to them in a real, sincere sort of way.
Let's look at the best First Date Conversation Topics:
Family,Family, Family - The best way to get to know a person is to ask them about their family. Brothers and sisters? Only child? Divorced parents? Adopted? Whatever it may be, the answers to these questions are key to unlocking a person's true identity. However, if you ask these questions be prepared to remember the answers. If you ask a girl if you has any siblings and she tells you their names, ages, and what they do you better remember because if you don't that second date will be the last date.
Preferences - Men and women love talking about themselves, so to make it interesting and keeping the talking time balanced ask about favorite foods and drinks and everything. This will spark the conversation to maybe lead elsewhere, but most of all you will find some ring of compatibility(or not).
Travel Anywhere Lately? - Let's face it we love to hear other people's stories about where they have been and where they plan to go. Remember- don't lie because she/he will remember where you said you have been and that might cause problems later when you actually travel their(maybe with that person) and you have no idea how to get anywhere. Talk about where you want go, ask about where they have been and where they would like to go(always ask why they want to go). Travel is an easy light topic...there cannot be too many biases or hidden sadness here.
Life Goals- Ok, so it is the first date, but the only way that you will find out if you want to see this person again is to ask the questions that matter the most. Ask about their job- I hope they have one. And if not, what do they aspire to be, where do they see their lives' heading. Career questions can give insight into the person's meaning of life. If they want to work for the CIA, that might tell you that they are organized, uptight....I don't know, but it will give you clues on what type of behavior you might expect from that person(don't make assumptions- I know plenty of doctors that are not OCD or perfectionists).
Hobbies- Ask what he/she does in his/her free time. Chess? Surfing? Who knows you might find out some very cool(or not so cool) things about your date. Keep it upbeat and fun. Tell them what you do and/or what you are thinking about trying. If you like the person you could offer to teach them something they don't know.
Remember to always keep the conversation moving, but silence is a virtue and sometimes it allows you to think about things that the person just said and gives you and opportunity to find out what to ask next. Conversation should not be rigid, but fluid and natural, don't force it...people will notice.
