Reflections: Miracles

I've always believed in miracles, and I always will. I believe the fact that we're even born is a miracle. With all the things that can go wrong during conception and pregnancy, it's amazing that any of us are even born. For Christians, the biggest miracle of all is Jesus Christ. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and he rose from the dead. To me that's the biggest miracle of all.

As humans we are imperfect and far from grace, so it's a miracle that God loves us all and has chosen to have mercy and forgiveness on those who live according to his will. We are all sinners and commandment breakers so it's a miracle that God hasn't turned his back to us.

In order for Miracles to happen, one needs to simply believe. This was the case in the movie Signs. When a reverend loses his wife, he begins to question his faith in God. It's only when he regains his faith in God and believes again that his son is miraculously saved from a near death experience. He doesn't have to pray for his son since God sees everything and knows what's happening. He just needs to believe in God.

Freedictionary.com defines a miracle as "An event that appears inexplicable by the laws of nature and so is held to be supernatural in origin or an act of God." If you question your believe in God, you're not going to see any miracles. The proof of God's love is all around us, you just have to look for it. I see Gods love in the cool breeze of a summer day, the hugs of my loved ones, the glow of the moonlight, and the soft feel of grass beneath my feet. Life is a miracle in itself, and so is the ability to see, touch, taste, hear, smell, and walk. When you truly and sincerely believe in God, you will see his miracles all around you.

I truly believe in miracles since my own life is a miracle. My own life is a miracle since I have Turner's Syndrome. Turner's Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder in which a female has only one x chromosome instead of two. Only one in 2500 females born are effected by Turner's Syndrome. Most babies with Turner's Syndrome aren't even born since they're miscarried. I could have been a miscarriage like most others, but I wasn't. God decided that I should be born, and that's quite a miracle to me. It's also a miracle that I am still alive. When I was six months old I almost died of salmonella. When I was seven my brother saved me from drowning in a pool. It's also a miracle that I've never been hit by a car. It's a miracle that I have wonderful parents, and it's a miracle that my best friend forgave me for the stupid mistakes I made as a teenager. My life is truly a miracle, and miracles happen to me all the time.
