It is better to be an interesting person than a useful person because society is a boys' club. Being Useful is a great quality when needed, but if you cannot captivate a crowd of people with quick wit, great stories, or a few jokes, then you will not be able to rise to the higher ranks of society. Useful people are only kept as long as they are needed, but interesting people are always wanted because they are the people who grab the spotlight at social events and show everyone a good time. If you want to have fun, you make plans to hang out with an interesting friend. If you have to complete a job, you call a useful friend. Whether or not it is better to be an interesting person over a useful person is like asking someone if they would rather have fun or work. The answer is obvious!

Interesting people are the leaders of society. We are in the spotlight and, because everyone is focused on us, we call the shots. We are the ideas behind the plans. Whether it is a social party or a business event, it all starts with a suggestion, and the only suggestions that are heard are made by us, the interesting people. After we have been heard, the useful people, who consist of the cooks, the decorators, and the secretaries, transform our ideas into reality. All of these useful people complete their individual tasks and report back to the person in charge who happens to be the interesting person that was able to constructively utilize the attention given to him. The same concept applies to leaders of nations. They achieved their position of power by captivating the people. Once in power, they hire useful people to make their ideals into reality.

Lastly, being an interesting person guarantees that you will have a love life because, as an interesting people, you will catch the interest of others. When assessing your prom date options, you do not list the useful people you know, but the ones you are interested in. The same can be said for any type of date. When imagining the characteristics of the perfect boyfriend or girlfriend, usefulness is never there. We don't want a significant other that can do our taxes, unclog the toilet, or any other mundane tasks. We want someone that with a sense of humor. They have to be able to tell a joke and take a joke. They have to be able to be filled with stories and do things that make us laugh. In summary, they have to be interesting. Thus, as long as you are interesting, you will have a love life.
