Staring across the striped sheets,
no one's there, no one speaks.
It's been so long, so forgotten too,
You see, I realize I don't know you.
You, who used to lay in bed,
wide awake, so much we said,
So many smiles and you laughed aloud,
over the games we played and talked about.
I win a round then you'd beat me
at cards, cribbage and Monopoly.S
But we don't play those games today,
We won't tomorrow, we didn't yesterday.
I suppose we need to realize,
Open our hearts and tightly closed eyes.
Look at the different roads we've walked.
Rest for a while, sit down and talk.
But once again you don't come home,
with broken spirit I sit alone
And I wonder inside "what's really right,
should I stay a little longer or leave tonight.

Through trials, famine, loss,
The steadfast ones stand firm

IF WE COULD DO IT OVER
If we could do it over
start again anew
would your ring be on my finger
Would I still be loving you
