Retired, disabled at 50 and thinking my life was over was the most comical absurb thought that has ever entered my old brain!I sit for weeks thinking and conjuring up activities that my health would allow me to do just to stay busy.I concluded that I was just too young in my head and body to be ready for the rocking chair yet, so when my son invited us to the car racing events in Florida ,we went. BOY! was that fun! And that got me started and involved.Every chance we get we are off to some kind of adventure and doing things we never would have dreamed we would be able to do.
The beach was the last adventure , and being near the water and on the sandy beach is a paradise within one's heart.Watching the seagulls ,and all sort of what nature has in store for us is so awarding. My whole family has to travel in their jobs and sometimes to get to visit is such a treat for us.I have developed the love of writing and that has opened doors for me, so when we visit or when we get to adventure, pulling out my camera and pen keeps my world very exciting. We also have 6 beautiful grandchildren that we absolutely adore and spending time with them is so awarding to our souls.
Sometimes when permissable swimming and fishing is our favorite. We did not ever think we would be able to enjoy these things after my health turned bad and even before when parents thought we just don't have the time, we have to work. The doctor told me I would not be able to enjoy these kind of things, But with the encouragement from family and friends and prayer, we found out different. We started taking time for ourselves for a change.
Taking care of our bodies is one thing we must do in order have the key to physical happiness and the foundation of conduct and love. So, in order to enjoy life, we started dedicating our postive thoughts on a healthy diet and staying happy.
I surprised myself when I actually got where I could swim across the pool again and the jetskies were wonderful.Taking a challenge and seeking out these things that I actually did not get to enjoy as a younger person , I found out that this was really fun and I never would have dreamed that I would actually be doing all of these fun things after the age 50.
Staying happy was doing everything possible to stay as healthy as we could so we would be able to go on another "adventure".This was so was very important to us.Should I say that eating well is one key to our health. We hear this all the time ,but when you get really serious about it,and go by the rules it really pays off.I have heard some quotes that makes sense to me and to helped me further into my adventures,so I took heed . If a bird is 50% overweight, do you think it can fly?Another is "You can be a very old car and still be in the race". Doing what you set your mind to do is another thing. There are times people are limited on what they can do, but making up your mind to do the best that you can and making everyday special as possible is what counts. Live as if you had no tomorrow and glorify God that you had today is another key to doing things you can really enjoy over the age 50.I have really fooled myself! Let's see what our next adventure is going to be! Who knows? It might be surfing!
