Dreams and goals, goals and dreams...what they are define who we are, for they provide in the most elemental of terms a glimpse into our personas, and what our ideas of happiness and contentment are.
The great thing about dreams and goals is they're free. There are no forms to fill out, no fees to pay, no outstanding balances due. At any given time, a person can have a multitude of goals and dreams. They can change instantly or over time; like clothes and TV shows, we sometimes outgrow them, shedding our old needs while discovering new ones. And it doesn't cost us anything but the time we take to invest in ourselves.
However, there lives in each of us aspirations that will not go quietly into that good night. Like sleeper cells, they remain dormant, yet omnipresent. They tickle the back of our conscious and subconscious minds, reminding us that yes, they're still there. Not unlike a child eager for the attention of its parents, these dreams and goals will tug at you relentlessly until they are finally heard, at which point victory will be declared.

Whether it was the first to be heard at the dinner table, or to dive head first into a debate on family politics, it was something I thrived on. It wasn't about being difficult or argumentative, but rather about articulating thoughts and ideas. As I got older, I found my Red Barchetta, the perfect vehicle for expression - the art of taking pen to paper and putting words together into a cohesive statement.
It's been said that you know what your passion is when it's not a chore, but something you enjoy doing every single day. It's not an obligation, but a burning desire, a fire that refuses to be extinguished. Humbled, you submit to this hunger, because it's never fulfilled and will never surrender.
This is how I feel about creative writing.
Since the tender age of ten, I have wanted to be a professional writer. I can't explain how or why - nobody put a bug in my ear about it. It doesn't run in my family (although I do have relatives that are painters and artists) so the creative gene is prevalent. Yet I have been writing short stories, poems and essays with reckless abandon ever since.
Ideas for my work have come from life's experiences, childhood memories, dreams, people watching and running through the
