The most popular event of the season is the Annual Snow Festival. That's right...Snow Festival. City officials bring in 70 tons of man-made snow and create their own winter wonderland. You'll find a hill for sledding, snow ball fights, snow angels and an ice skating rink. Bring your cameras for a close-up shot of your children climbing a snow hill in their shorts and t-shirts. The festival also boasts an outdoor petting zoo, a rock wall and carnival complete with dunk tank and games. This event will have you shaking your head and smiling all the way home.
When Christmas is over, get ready to break in the New Year in grand style. The celebration starts early with the Holiday Art Festival on Fifth Avenue. In the evening, Naples hosts New Years parties to suit every taste and budget. Grand events are held in fine hotels and resorts, where guests are decked out in the exquisite gowns and tuxedos. Other party goers choose to sport their favorite tropical attire and bring in the New Year from a tiki deck overlooking the ocean while enjoying the view of fireworks over the bay.
Whether you choose to eat your holiday meal poolside, open presents under your Christmas palm tree or put a Santa hat on the pink flamingo in the front yard, you will find that Naples brings out the holiday spirit in everyone. So, the next time a snow plow drives by, barricading your driveway with 3 feet of dirty wet snow, ask yourself, "What are you waiting for?"
