Jamaica is hot, hot, hot! Combining the flavors of the Europeans and Spanish who have settled here along with Chinese, Irish, and German influences (to name just a few), Jamaica has an exotic, spicy flavor all her own.
English may be the official language but while wandering the colorful and vibrant streets of sunny Jamaica, you can't help but hear the locals speaking in what sounds like a foreign language. Jamaican Patois is a blending of English, Spanish, African, (and more) phrases that are as rhythmic as the music of choice on Jamaica; Reggae. Dance until dawn in one of the many bars or nightclubs that line the coast. Sip on a bottle of "Red Stripe, " the locally brewed beer of the island. It will quickly have you shouting "hooray beer!" and probably "hooray Jamaica" as well. Indulge in another island favorite, Applewood Estates Rum, Jamaican made since 1742. Just don't indulge too much! Jamaica has an island's worth of adventure just waiting for discovery!
Teeming with exciting tours and thrilling adventures, Jamaica has always been a favorite island playground. Sink a hole in one at terrific golf courses with greener than green jungle bordered fairways. Bird watchers keep on the lookout for the elusive and fast flitting Vervian Hummingbird, only one of 200 plus other species of colorful birds. Hike or bike up the lush Blue Mountains or just climb up to the top of a cascading waterfall. Enjoy lobster pizza, jerk chicken, Callaloo omelets, and boiled green bananas, just a small sampling of the awesome island cuisine. Some restaurants even provide service right on the beach! Swim with playful, fun loving dolphins or horseback ride along the breathtaking shore right into the aquamarine sea. Learn about Jamaica's rich history, starting with the first governor of Jamaica, a pirate turned knighted leader! Relax on gorgeous beaches. Explore the charming villages and friendly locals but watch out for the occasional goat in the road. Take the plunge! Tie the knot in Jamaica, completing the ceremony with traditional rum fruitcake, just not on Monday which is considered unlucky. Dive headlong off the world famous Negril Cliffs for the thrill of a lifetime!
