Best horror movies of all time

by Ruby Divine

Horror Movies are like drugs...once you start watching them, you're well and truly hooked. Whether it's the undeniable sound of Hannibal Lecters slurping or the hum of a chainsaw, horror movies are sure to get your pulse racing. There are five movies that stand out to me as being the best horror movies of all time, here's my list;

Number 5: Darkness Falls
This film draws upon the childhood figure, The Tooth Fairy. Suddenly the kind and enchanting image we had as child of this kindly sprite is drastically transformed into a raging killer with a passion for the odd tooth or two. If any child (or adult) should wake and see the 'Tooth Fairy', a horrific death with shortly follow. 'Don't Peek....'.

Number 4: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Chillingly, this movie is based on true events which undoubtedly makes it even scarier. A deformed killer goes on a masachistic spree in Texas, number one weapon of choice - The Chainsaw. This film shows extreme violence and gore and will have any horror movie fan engrossed. It also plays on the mind in a psychologically thrilling way and gets you thinking of the motives of the killer. This film will make sure any innocent guys trimming the hedges scare you to death!

Number 3: Scream
Basically, a killer in a costume takes no prisoners as he slowly starts to kill off school students one by one. The killer calls up each of his victims and puts them through a frightening ordeal before finally making his move to murder them. After watching this film, you'll probably be a bit wary of answering your phone!

Number 2: A Nightmare on Elm Street
This has to be near the top of my list as the killer, Freddie Kreuger, comes to kill unsuspecting victims in their slumber. With a burnt face and a specially made glove with knives for fingers, this is a real scream. Ever had a nightmare that felt so real?...One, two, Freddies coming for YOU!

Number 1: Halloween
This has got to be my number one horror movie of all time. Basically, teens are hunted down and killed by psychotic, Michael Myers. He wears a creepy white mask and doesn't seem to ever die. This film really plays on the fear of 'what's behind the mask?' Babysitters watch out!

Now, I haven't given much of the plots away because that would spoil the fun. So now lock the doors, bolt the windows, grab a friend and have a frightastic night watching the top 5 horror movies of all time!
