How to make your own Flying Spaghetti Monster decorations

by Anne StClair

Created on: August 21, 2008

If you are a follower of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) (May Sauce be Upon Him), then you may well have felt His Noodly Appendage (HNA) calling you to make some decorations for your home and office. Fortunately, FSM decorations are easy and fun to make. (If you are one of the unfortunate unreached, you can read about FSM, which is the world's fastest growing religion, at: http://www.venganza.org/about/open-letter/).

Naturall y, once you are a follower of FSM, you will want to have your iconic representations accurate, and the official Church website (http://www.venganza.org/) has many pictures of FSM to help you out.

Since Pastafarians are required to dress in pirate costumes whenever they can (or FSM gets angry), pirate paraphenalia will add to your collection of decorations, and you will be following the tenets of your religion.

The following sections will give you some other ideas for decorations.

ICONS OF FSM
A number of graphics are available from the Church's main website: http://www.venganza.org/materials/wallpapers
and from other websites such as: http://www.starbase1.co.uk/flying-spaghetti-monster/ flying-spaghetti-monster.html

You can use the graphics as the basis of your models or icons of FSM from these graphics. Papier mache and wool make excellent models, or you can use clay or play dough for the eyes and wool for His Noodly Appendages. It is, of course, also possible to make edible noodly appendages, using spaghetti (naturally) or other noodles.

If you prefer to use card and paper to make your model of FSM, there is an excellent video to show you how to do this step-by-step: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejYFKT4sYYM&feature=r elated

PIRATE DECORATIONS AND COSTUMES
The Flying Spaghetti Monster (MSBUH) requires that Pastafarians wear full pirate regalia whenever possible, to avoid displeasing FSM.

It is fun to make your own pirate decorations, but if you give up on this idea, there are many places where pirate costumes and paraphenalia can be purchased. Some examples are: http://www.costumzee.com/tag/pirate/ and
http://www.easterntoys.com/Pirate-Costumes-s/106. htm. Other pirate items you can use for decorations include pirate wigs, hats, swords, eye patches and model pirate ships, all of which are pleasing to the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

If you are handy with a sewing machine, you can use the pictures of pirate costumes at the websites noted above as models for making your own costumes. As soon as you decide that this is all too difficult, buy the pirate
