Overview: Archmage is a top down shooter similar to 1943, except you can't move forward and backward. Mages, magic and creatures that need slaying. The game is a comfortable addition to the pick-up and play category, though this accreditation makes so that it can't shine in any particular fashion. Over all, it is a very fun game to play that puts a good twist on a classic format.
Overview: 3/5
Game play: Game play is simple seeing as you can play with only the mouse if you wanted to. Acquiring spells for your main attack is a little glitchy, meaning you can gain the same spell from different stages. This may have been intentional, but if it was it is not to the games benefit. Power-ups have a decent duration and have varying effects depending on what your base spell is. All together, game play makes this game at least worth the download.

Graphics and Sounds: Very nice sounds and bare minimum graphics mean that this game doesn't sit in the back of the class, but at the same time it doesn't set the curve. Watching creatures burning isn't as satisfying as it could be but they do burn. They also choke on poison and freeze as well. The different elements of the game definitely have presence through the graphics but they don't flash and stand out. The different sound effects are satisfactory and more the game along where they should, but you won't be coming back just to hear something that happens in this game.
Graphics and Sounds: 3/5
Creativity and Innovation: Being what this game is, a spin on a classic, it pulls off so creativity points. None for innovation though, but that is forgivable. Your need to dodge incoming attacks is creatively added to the game, but the method used (your vulnerable and your mount isn't) hinders the creativity of the game while not sacrificing any of the other elements. An easily over look able flaw.
Creativity and Innovation: 2/5
Recap: To bring this short spat all together I will say this, the game is worth playing. Download it and punish the wicked of the land. But whether or not to buy it is up to you, I won't be buying this one. The 60 minute trial gave me my digital death fix for the day and with that it is deleted from my computer.
