Mexican food is a fun and popular food for dinner parties. There are a variety of delicious dishes that you can serve and they aren't real hard to make. All you need to do is use your imagination and a lot of things can be formed.
All dinner parties need snacks. Rather than the traditional chips and dip, set out a tray of tortilla chips and salsa or guacamole dip. If you want to be more original than that, try making some tostada bites.
~Tostada Bites~
You will need:
1 pound of ground beef or turkey
2 and cups salsa
1 large can of refried black beans (14 ounces or so)
1 bag of tortilla chips
Sour cream
Shredded cheese
Lettuce (shredded)
Brown the meat in a pan over high heat. Drain the grease off and return it to the pan. Stir in the beans and salsa. Cook until it is warmed and thoroughly blended. Spoon about a tablespoon of the mixture on each chip. Top with shredded lettuce, sour cream, and cheese.
The key to a good dinner party is not having a lot to clean up. Serving foods that you can eat with your hands can be a simple way to cut down on clean up work. This doesn't mean that your guests won't get full either.
~Cheesy Chicken Rollers~
You will need:
1 pound of boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 can of pepper jack soup
cup of water
8 flour tortillas
Chunky salsa
Cut chicken into small square chunks and cook it into a skillet until it is done. Add soup and water. Continue to cook until it is well blended and warmed thoroughly.
Spoon about 1/3 of the mixture into each tortilla. Moisten the edges with water and place on a baking sheet. Warm in a 425-degree oven for about seven minutes or until heated thoroughly. Cut into wedges and serve with additional salsa on the side.
~Creamy Beef Enchiladas~
You will need:
1 pound of beef
1 cup of sour cream
1 can (about 10 ounces) of cream of mushroom soup
8 ounces of shredded mixed cheese
12 flour tortillas
1 and cups of salsa
Cook beef and drain. Mix the soup, cup of sour cream, and 1 cup of cheese together. Spoon about cup of the mixture down the center of each tortilla. Place seams facedown in a greased baking dish. Top with salsa and cheese. Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 25 minutes.
As with any recipe, you can add or omit items as you see fit. When it comes to cooking, the sky is the limit. If you know how something you should taste, you can make it. Remember that only practice can make a dish a perfect one!
