Breckenridge, Colorado is a 148 year old Victorian town where they are known to be very friendly and welcome visitors. Plan a holiday getaway to Breckenridge, where there are several attractions and activities for everyone to enjoy.

The Breckenridge Ski Resort is an old-west town with accommodations of a first class modern day resort. With over 300 ft. of snow a year, this resort has more than 2,350 acres of terrain with well manicured slopes for the avid skier.

A ski school is offered for beginners to get the hang of things. Start by learning on the nursery slopes, which are accessible with their Quicksilver lifts. This is the best place to start if you have never stepped foot in a set of skis.

The Resort also houses five snowboarding parks and twenty-seven lifts. Take in the breathtaking scenery Breckenridge has to offer as you are climbing your way up the mountains on one of these lifts.

The town holds a festival every year in December called, "The Lighting of Breckenridge." This festival is filled with holiday choirs and carolers walking through the streets. Cocoa is served with Santa Claus on Main Street, and a beautiful fireworks show is displayed in the night sky. It is this festival where the town gets together and lights the town Christmas tree in the Blue River Plaza.

Another event held in Breckenridge is, The Hartford Spectacular. This is an event that was founded in 1967. It is one of the nation's largest winter sports events for people with physical disabilities. The Hartford Spectacular is conducted by Disabled Sports USA, also known as, (DS/US). They offer programs to anyone with a disability and it is a weeklong event that has a youth development camp, as well as a learn-to-ski program. The DS/US are there to help those who normally would just give up because they have a permanent disability, but the program shows them they can do anything they put their mind too.

The International Budweiser Snow Sculpture Championship is an interesting even held at the Riverwalk Center. Competitors from around the world come to Breckenridge for this event. They travel from as far as Japan, Canada, and Russia. Teams of sculptors gather for a week long carving of art from 12 ft. tall, 20-ton blocks of snow. The carving begins on January 22nd and judging begins on January 27th. The sculptures are available for public viewing until February 3rd. Well-known respected artists are the judges in this exciting winter competition.

If you want to learn the history of this charming town, The Summit Historic Society offers a guided tour for visitors and tourists. On this tour you will see seven historic sites on this 12 block tour that covers downtown Breckenridge.

Being called, "The best party town in the Rocky Mountains at night," You are sure to have the vacation of a lifetime kicking up your heels and cutting loose. Winter weather does not slow down this little town.
