You took away my childhood,
Left me with frightening fears.
A child alone in an adult world
All alone for too many long years.
You did not defeat me,
I won't let life beat me.
I am what I am
Because what you did,
Has made me as strong as I am.
I overcame fear, no longer alone
I shared my sadness and shame,
My loss, grief and pain
With others who had been through the same.
Tooth and nail I still fight
For those who still suffer alone
To give them the right
To know that they are not alone.
