There are several dumb things guys can do to ruin a first date.

The first thing a guy can do to ruin a first date, is to show up LATE.

First impressions are everything, and if you show up late, this tells a woman that you aren't reliable and that you wouldn't be willing to make her a priority in a long-term relationship. Not to mention, being late is just rude and inconsiderate.

The second thing a guy can do to ruin a first date, is to be dressed like a slob, have the stench of body odor emanating from him, and have nasty teeth or greasy hair. No woman wants to be seen with a man who doesn't even care enough about his appearance to take a shower before going out in public.

If a woman sees a man in wrinkled, stained, mismatched clothes- she sees someone who isn't mature enough to take care of himself, and that he doesn't care enough about himself to present his best to the world.

The third thing a guy can do to ruin a first date, is to do nothing but talk about himself and his interests. If you aren't willing to listen to her, or ask questions about her, then you aren't really interested in a relationship with her.

Women do NOT like men who are so completely full of themselves, that someone else can't get a word in edgewise. While we want to know more about you, we don't want you entire life story and resume on the first date! Ask questions about her, and keep your mouth shut when she answers you!

One of the biggest turn offs- Don't talk about your past relationships or conquests, and don't trash-talk your ex!

Even if you were in a relationship with the Wicked Witch of The West, we don't want to hear you bad-mouthing your ex. It makes a woman wonder what you'll say about HER when she's not around! This is a major no-no!

Another thing, don't get too serious too fast! Nothing screams stalker like proposing marriage on the first date, or suggesting that we be exclusive with you! Come on, we just met and have only gone on one date- it's far too soon to know whether or not we are compatible, and we're definitely not ready to choose wedding invitations or curtains yet!

And while some women may not appreciate your efforts or want you to be a "perfect gentleman", most of us don't want you trying to undress us with your eyes on the first date, nor do we want to go back to your apartment to look at your "exotic fish aquarium!"

Have some courtesy, and don't "go for the goods" immediately on the first date- that's a major turn-off, and it will drastically reduce your chances for a second or third date!

Now, if you can remember all of that, and can refrain from the above behaviors... Then if you can make it through a successful first date, chances are, you'll get that second date!
Don't be fake or something you're not, but do be polite and show good manners.
