This is the review for "Mulver" created by Spelagon. RATING: 2/5.

Upon loading this game it is clear to see that this is not a state-of-the-art game. It's not going to have you hanging on the edge of you seat, wondering if there is something lurking round the next corner, nor will it flabbergast you with the graphics and game play. What it does, however is appeal to a target crowd. You can see, from the chunky landscapes, perhaps reminiscent of Spyro, coupled with the "Jump and collect coins" ethic of Mario, that there is a certain flair to this game. With the 4-level Demo providing a good insight into this game, which, by the way, you can trial for free, you can take Mulver upon a quest to free his Uncle Miggles, who has been captured by King Porco. In order to accomplish this you must gather gold coins scattered throughout the lands, and the 3 Yre Crystals, which will ultimately complete your mission.

There are plenty of obstacles and puzzles to overcome in the game, unfortunately, however, it does seriously resemble the stylings of Mario, Zelda, Spyro et al in its looks, and perhaps also in its sound, which sounds increasingly like laying a Nintendo 64, or the Wii. This is why people of a more experienced generation may find this game slightly off-putting, as it does lack the originality, that we are seeing ever so frequently these days.

The game itself runs on a low-performance dynamic, however it doesn't really need to do anything else. You're not going to have to spend 5 minutes waiting for your computer to stop lagging, for it then to suddenly jump forward and find out you died some 3 and a half minutes ago. This can be played by anyone, not just in the performance sense, but in the physical sense. The game play is so simple. The main criteria of the game is that you can time a jump, and collect coins without falling off the platform. Adults can play, and so can children, however based on the storyline, and the lacklustre graphics, this may be something you want to buy for your children first, and then look at playing yourself.
