Poetry: One last time

by Memee

One last time before I die
Let me feel the sun on my face
Let me laugh, please don't let me cry.

One last time please let me hear
My grandchildren's giggles and laughter
Let me chase away the monsters they fear.

Let me whisper words love one last time
To the man who shared his life with me
A wonderful, loving husband I call mine.

One last time my children must be told
How each one made my life complete
The love that they gave was more precious than gold.

One last time let me share coffee with a friend
So we can laugh and reminisce about life
Remember how it was way back then.

One last time let me feel the air of a crisp fall day
Let my feet shuffle through the fallen leaves
Let me be in awe of their colorful display.

One last time let me feel the love that I knew
Let me wrap it around me like a soft blanket
Just one last time God, that's all ask of you.
