Poetry: Let me be your hero

A Precious friend, Patty,
Draws treasured breath from tube and tank,
No stranger, she, to medical emergency
And herself a nurse once.

Her lithe, thin frame
Belies the strength of spirit within.
Lung and ligament may fail
But her faith will ever prevail.

She acknowledges death's presence.
She affirms no fear, rather the great rejoining
With her companion and friend of 40 yrs, Ron, whom
Death snatched away from her too soon.

Each of us should witness the gallantry,
The wisdom, the Faith of one so Spirited
That she might rise right up to the arms of Jesus
If her frail body would only allow her.

Each of us might BE this mirror of the divine,
It takes less talk and much more spine.
I, too, can learn to take myself more lightly
Because I've seen the grace of one living rightly.

Thanks, dear friend, for this little glimpse of heaven.
