Reflections: Hate

Hate

Society today has a long past of hate. What is it exactly that we hate? In my opinion, it is anything that is different from what we are taught as children. So many crimes are committed based on hate. Do we really have the right to commit horrible injustices to others just because they are different?

In the beginning we ran away from the country to become a democracy. We were looking for freedom. We wanted the right to be who we want to be, and live as we see fit. Have we really gotten away from that kind of dictatorship? I don't think so.

We continue to use others that are weaker than us. Make fun of the way they look. Look down on them because of where they live. I see it everyday. I am in an interracial relationship. I walk down the street and hear the whispers. I am not blind. I see the way you look at my children.

I wonder if this is the freedom our forefathers had in mind. Every man is created equal. Well, for some strange reason our next generations are still being taught that they are not equal to everyone. Only certain types of people are good for certain jobs. There are those of us that deserve more just because of our ancestry.

I wonder if when the corruption of our children will stop. Hate fuels people in a way that takes over their lives until there is nothing left. It has a way of making even the most loving person untrusting and bitter. Black and as hard as stone is the heart of a man that cannot find love to give to others. All these things can cloud the judgment of a great thinker.

Is that really what we want for our children? I most certainly do not. I want my children to love the world and those around them. I want them to look forward to getting up and living. Our time is short, and I do not want them consumed with so much hate that they cannot see the beauty that surrounds them.

We need to look into others eyes and show compassion for our fellow man. Just stop and look into a child's eyes and see the warmth they give without thought or regret. A child can show you more compassion and love than you will ever see anywhere else. Unconditional love and acceptance is the only thing that children know until us as parents teach them differently.

Take a few minutes to allow yourself to examine your views. How do you see the world around you? I see a magnificent place that could be full of trust. I see a world that if giving the chance could blossom into exactly what we were looking for when we ran away from home so many years ago.
