When I heard you take your first breath
I knew you were meant to be here
I watched you grow to a fine young man
Your endless smile, a joy to share
Now I watch your smile fading
Your body shaking and growing thin
Your big blue eyes gone black
The pain on your face, the pain within
I see the razor blade and pills on your nightstand
The papers, pipes and torch beside your bed
The white powder reminents on your hand
Am I seeing you come to your end
You unrelentlessly deny there's a problem
Do you think we don't know what you do
When you've gone from a beautiful young man
Now have no desire for truth
Today I found you listless
Curled up like a child on your bed
Blood soaked all over your pillow
And a needle beside your head
It's time for devine intervention
I scoop you up in my arms
Helping you live is my intention
Protect you from any more harm
To detox you go, I don't see you for months
Then you walk through the door
Your eyes are smiling again my son
Peace and tranquility ever more

"Dad" An Addict's Life
Our poor dad, he looks so frail

Gone Again
So, again you're gone from my life,
gone like a thief in the night.
You get to hide in numbness,
I get to live with

WASTED GIRL
She stood outside the motel room,
her head resting wearily on the door.
Her skin was pale and blue-veined,

"The Other Side"
The waters where I tread are dark and cold.
Filled with sadness and miseries untold.
My plight seems so hopeless
