Poetry: Fear of death

by Anncan

Created on: August 19, 2008

"O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?"

The best of my heroes
Are those whose death
I've been privileged to witness.

I fear many of life's stings
but death is not one of them for now.
It smells sweet.

Death is a rescuer,
A gentle escort to a place beyond.
Laden with wondrous peace.

Death is a release from torment,
And I've known a fair amount of that.
My eyes rest fondly in serene content.

Fear is the bastion
Of faithless, wanton fidgeting.
Death sets all at ease.

"My heart is restless til it rests in thee."
