Testimonies: An open letter to God

by Roderick L. Evans

Created on: August 18, 2008

Dear God,

You are the only true and living God. Though many deny your existence and power, you remain merciful, loving, and kind. In spite of man's failures and frailties, you remain unfailing and powerful. Your great love and infinite wisdom and power was revealed in Jesus Christ, who remains the hope and salvation of this world.

I want to begin by thanking you for everything that you have done for me, including the full and free salvation provided for me through Christ. I do not take for granted all the things you have done for me and for the prayers that were answered even when I did not deserve them. I thank you for the times you provided for me, healed me, and blessed others who I had concern for. You have been a very present help in the time of trouble, need, and despair.

I am taking this time to write to you because, once again, I am heavy. Heavy with the cares of this life and the uncertainties of the future. In this past year, I have experienced many difficulties in this life, from finances to health. But I do know, you have sustained me in the midst of it all. So, I am writing to put my ever growing concerns and woes at your feet, believing that somehow, someway, you will allow and do what is best for me.

I do confess to you that I am growing weary and tired, not knowing how much more I can endure. There are many people who yet depend on me and look to me. I do not know how I can endure my present circumstances and continue to meet the needs of others. Though many look to me, I am looking to you - for strength, support, inspiration, and peace. You have done it for me in the past and I am coming again to receive from you. You are my hope, strength, and peace in this life. Though many troubles surround me, you will deliver me and place my feet upon a rock. Though the doctors may not know what to do; though family and friends may not know what to say; though I may not know what is going to come; I will continue to put my trust in you.

So God, these are the words of my soul and the very meditations of my heart. I thank you that I can bring all my concerns to you. I am grateful that you will be there for me as you have always been. I want to conclude this letter by expressing my gratitude for all things and your presence being with me. I thank you for salvation and hope through Jesus Christ. For I know in the end, I will have victory in every situation.

Forever Grateful,

Your Son and Servant
