The Wishing Well
My dreams fell
into that wishing well
And with them gone,
I am left alone.
In this abyss,
it's the happiness that I miss,
So dark is this place
- this claustrophobic space
A chilling dilemma
I'm cornered, I tremor
so cold and tattered,
my confidence shattered
So this pain lingers,
its icy fingers
run up my spine
and in fractured time I watch the moment unfurl
Into that wishing well I will hurl,
my hope,
my happiness,
my self.

without the light, I fear what I can't see.
