Although I watch and shop both HSN and QVC, I feel QVC is definately the better of the two networks.
QVC has a much larger variety of products to choose from in all categories from apparel to electronics, and everything in between. Instead of spending a half hour on a product, describing and selling it, as HSN does sometimes, QVC offers more products per segment bcause of the larger selection they carry. I feel QVC'S quality is better also, on most of their items. I rarely have to send anything back when I order from QVC.
Most of my apparel shopping is done on QVC. I live in a small rural area and am limited to Walmart and Target unless I travel some 50 or more miles to the larger cities. With the gas prices the way they are right now, it's more economical to shop online. There's nothing wrong with Walmart and Target if you want the basics like jeans, tee shirts, and tennis shoes. Other then that, you're pretty limited in their apparel selections. QVC has more designer looking clothing like Dennis Basso, Stan Herman and Dujor, just to name a few. They're also reasonably priced, I feel in these lines. HSN'S designer fashions are much pricer, and the selections aren't as good either, in my opinion. QVC also has a real good selection of basics like sweaters, outerwear, boots etc.
I also like QVC's jewelry selections. I'm far from wealthy, but since I started shopping on QVC, I now have an assortment of rings, watches, and necklaces, mostly priced under $50.00. Before I started shopping QVC, my jewelry collection was pretty much limited to the bare essentials like a watch, a couple of necklaces, and my wedding ring. Again, I feel their jewelry is a better quality product then HSN offers.
I also love the easy pay offers both QVC and HSN have to offer. You can't go to your local store and buy something and pay for it on monthly installments. You can purchase on a layaway plan in some stores, but you don't receive the items until they're totally paid off. Not QVC or HSN, you receive the item as soon as you order it, and the payments are billed to your credit card on a monthly basis, in most cases. Be a smart shopper, though. Don't over buy, or you could run into trouble when those payments come due. Last Christmas I purchased my 3 oldest grandsons MP3 players on easy pay from QVC. They were a real good quality, name brand product. If it hadn't been for QVC'S easy pay plan, I probably wouldn't have been able to purchase this good of a quality product for them.
I purchased some flameless candles from HSN for a gift last year and when the recipent opened the gift, the candles didn't work. I was quite embarassed and disappointed, to say the least. I also purchased a small tote bag and the zipper came apart the first time I used the bag. The price was right, but the quality wasn't there. I had to go through the hassle of returning it. I also feel that some of HSN'S apparel is of a lesser quality then QVC'S.
I discovered QVC some years ago while flipping through the channels on TV. I've been a customer of theirs ever since. I haven't been disappointed with my shopping experiences with them, for the most part. I feel their name says it all,Q for quality, V for value, C for convenience, and that sums it all up for me. I feel proud to be a QVC customer all these years.
