"On Turning 22 and Knowing Pretty Much What Happens Next"
Lying there all stupeified,
Lying there all sleep-deprived
I see my man in something more than love.
And roaming 'bout, my glass in hand,
I think I'm just the sort of man
To be the one that fun is made of.
No invitations, no...celebrations,
No "any-other-ations" come a'knockin'
And rather than be mystified I sit here
Drunk and mortified and grip my knees
And gently keep on rocking.
My prince has come,
my ship has sailed
And yet my shoulders
speak a very different truth.
One of pills and early risers,
One of pain and deep-fat-friars,
But every year I've one less thing to lose.
