A stationary bike is an exercise bike specifically designed for exercising in a stationary position, providing a low impact workout. The stationary bike is essentially the same as a normal bicycle except for the obvious fact that it is stationary.

Advantages:

Stationary bikes are a safe and effective way to exercise. They enable you to achieve a low-impact cardio-vascular work out with no adverse affects on the knees and ankles, which lowers the risk of injury.  It also increases the blood circulation while flexibility and range of motion is greatly increased.  Stationary bikes are very convenient by allowing the user to cycle anytime without leaving the comfort of their home.

Shopping for a Stationary Bicycle:

The first thing to consider before buying a stationary bike is deciding what your fitness goals are. Just remember that more expensive does not mean healthier. The main things to look for in a stationary bike are:

-Stability:  Make sure the bike does not vibrate or shake at high speed.
-Protected flywheel and fans:  to avoid anything being caught while in use.
-Capable of providing the right resistance:  In order to continue building your stamina.
-Adequately adjusts for your comfort:  Make sure that the seat and handle bars will adjust accordingly and the seat post is angled.
-Wide Pedals:  The pedals need to be wide enough to avoid the foot from slipping.

Stationary exercise bikes are a great way to keep in shape without taking up a lot of floor space. You can find a style and color to fit your exercise room and enjoy being fit.
