How to get rid of bumpy skin on your face

In order to treat a condition you first have to know what it is first and what caused it. Some people have little bumpy parts in the skin which makes it look like permanent goose bumps. These can occur in the face, legs or arms and could look really annoying. So what are these bumps really? Well they are keratin filled cyst (sometimes called keratosis pilaris) or they could be glob of protein. They can be improperly developed oil glands or could be caused by skin trauma. These keratosis pilaris then usually block the hair follicles causing these bumpy appearances.

So in order to prevent this bumpy skin we first have to know what caused it. These could be caused by sun exposure and they could be even genetic. They are really common within young children and normally disappear as we grow older but some adults may still have them.

Here are some ways that can help you to try eliminating this bumpy skin:

1)You can try to exfoliate the affected area. But be careful rough scrubbing may actually worsen the condition as it may actually help building up the bumpy skin. So remember to gently scrub to remove the dead debris layer.

2)You may have noticed that some of the bumpy skin are near your mouth. That is due to the toothpaste left to linger on that area so prevent having toothpaste around your mouth for too long as fluoride causes irritation.

3)You can use gentle eye creams to help preventing their formation around the eyes.

4)You may want to use a sunscreen to help block the sun to prevent their formation.

5)Try using a moisturizer containing lactic acid as it helps you remove the keratin from the cyst.

6)Using Retinoid or a creams containing Vitamin A may actually help to unplug the hair follicles as deficiency in Vitamin A could cause this bumpy skin.

7)Ammonium Lactate may soften the plugs and the skin present in the area.

8)Lotions or creams containing Urea can soften up the skin and helps clearing up the skin condition.

9)If the bumpy skin is present on your face it will be a good idea to use a topical steroids to help preventing the scarring of the face.

10)If you are sure that you are absolutely fine and that there is no underlying infection you might want to go ahead and remove the bumps yourself. First apply a wet hot towel onto your face for a few minutes. Then you have to gently apply a clean syringe onto the center of the bump to remove the contents of the bump.

Always keep in mind that if the bumpy skin irritates or itches you might want go see a dermatologist as it may be a sign of infection, a dermatologist can also help you to remove the bumpy skin when all other fails. Also the bumpy skin may be the result of an underlying infection.
