Addiction. It comes in many forms and venues. Drugs, sex, food, gambling, you name it! Yep, I am now officially qualified as an addict. I am addicted to Helium! No, silly, not the kind you inhale! Helium.com, the writer's venue. I have never been addicted to anything in life until now. I became a member of Helium about two months ago and I am consumed! I find myself checking it as regularly as my email!

When I sit down to relax and click on my now bookmarked favorite, Helium.com, I can choose from an array of assortments. Writing, rating, chatting, research, whatever my heart desires. Helium.com is a writer's dream, all at your fingertips. Of course writing articles and submitting them is my favorite outlet. It's like watching a horserace, waiting on the numbers to come back and see who will be out in the front of the others! How will the writers various aspects on the same subject bring about different results? I also love to read others work's and rate them. I think it is great how we can assist each other in our common goals, that of achieving our best in our writing endeavor.

Now in my fifties, I have written since my teenage years. In high school a few of my electives were writing classes. I liked when our work was shared and critiqued by our classmates. Helium brings the classroom to me! Will my article float to the top or sink? The same basic concept of being graded with an A or an F in that old high school writing lab! Having our works critiqued and rated is a tool to further enhance our work. One of my stories had a good concept but was a bit short in its content. It also could use, as was pointed out by a fellow writer, a bit more depth and build on the chosen subject. I took her rewrite suggestions and utilized the leapfrog feature. With these changes, I watched my story jump from the bottom to the top fourth in ratings. While some might find these suggestions discouraging, I find them as an effective tool to improve my craft. Like a teacher mentoring her student!

I guess all of us have had the dream and set the goal of our articles being purchased by a publisher. That is another great feature of Helium.com. Opportunities. Marketplace provides the opportunity for our works to be purchased by many various publishers. Challenges. The Writers Contests provide us with continued challenges as we enter our poems or stories for the big win.

Many of the articles written are informational. I have learned quite a few good tips on various subject matters. Many writers provide a quality of great depth on the issues at hand and I have found much of it very useful.

And lastly, you begin to form bonds with other writers within the network. Whether it be a quick note to a writer to praise them on their submission or to visit the chat room for some answers, you can quickly meet new friends.

I have found two of my articles at number one! Talk about an ego booster! Helium.com is a writer's paradise, all right at home!
