The color of the walls will determine the way that the room is perceived. Often using two colors can be exceptionally helpful in helping the presentation of a room, and presenting it in better proportions and the use of two colors on one wall is a clever way to deceive the eye and make a tall room seem better proportioned and more comfortable.

Other methods which use two colors are creative, and these are also outlined in this article, as ideas for people who want to create the illusion of imaginative use of color and texture together on walls. The techniques are described for each, and the results which can be achieved are astounding.

*Color panels.
*Separation of wall colors at dado height.
*Stripes.
*Sponge or rag effects.

Color Panels.

These are very helpful additions for the home, and instead of presenting whole areas of single color, what panels do is create a new dimension to walls, giving them depth and focal interest. To create panels with paintwork is extremely simple and the items needed are as follows:

*Wooden moldings.
*Miter saw.
*Embossed wallpaper.
*Wallpaper paste.
*Two colors of paint.
*Tacks of suitable glue for wood to paper.
*Ruler
*Pencil
*Scissors

If you take an overall measurement of the wall, you can mark this on paper and decide how big the panels you want to create will be. Panels work very well indeed to frame artwork, and look best when the panels are mathematically correct in their proportion and layout. For example, say you would like to place three panels on a wall, these need to be evenly spaced apart, and to have the same height and width.

Mark out the pattern on the wall lightly with pencil and stand back and look if you have the right proportion. At this stage, you can make alterations, though standing back to look helps you decide if your original thinking works well. When the panels are marked on the wall, measure one of them to establish exact size of panel.

Cutting wallpaper the exact panel size, this is then pasted in place. The advantage of embossed paper is that it will add a texture to the panel area of the wall, although if you are not keen on this, you can simply sponge the area where the panel is to be created, using the sponging techniques explained below.

Cut the panel molding to size, and be sure to measure corner to corner, and then to make appropriate miter cuts so that the panel can be fixed to the outer edge of the paper. Paint the paper with the chosen color, taking the painting to the edges of the wallpaper, since this will
