For all you truly sincere guys who have a little trouble making that first move on a girl you would like to know better. I can offer a little insight from her point of view.

First, let it be known that charm and good looks only go so far in the feminine world. The average guy has just as much clout if they follow a few guidelines.

Say you see a girl you might be interested in. The first instinct might be to check her out (physically).

Smack yourself! Girls can feel what I call the "creep eye" from all directions, even from behind. This will cause her to immediately put up a wall to deter any dirty old men lurking in the room. Once the wall is up it's almost impenetrable, no matter who comes knocking.

Now for tip #1) The best thing you can do is get her attention in a positive way. How? Do something nice.

If you see her heading toward Dunkin' Donuts, run ahead and open the door for her.
If you see her fumbling for change to pay, offer to make up the difference.
If you see her trip, show some concern and ask if she's alright.
If she has a wish making dandelion caught in her hair, pick it out and let her make the wish.

But be cautious. Niceties don't always apply to certain situations.

Examples:

In a bar, don't offer to buy a drink from across the room. She'll instantly have you pegged as a pick up artist, the wall goes up, she'll keep the drink, blow you off, and have a good laugh with her friends. Instead, wait until you're already talking.

And no matter how tempting, if you see maybe a tag or a piece of tape stuck to the back of her pants or skirt, never, ever reach for it. Instead, tap her on the shoulder and inform her. She'll decide whether she wants you to remove it, or not depending on how sincere your expression is.

Tip # 2) While you're making your indelible impression with a good deed make sure you SMILE. It says that you really enjoyed making her life a little more comfortable because she's special. Girls, women, and little old ladies love to feel special.

Tip #3) Now, this is very important, once you have her attention, focus on her eyes...again... resisting any wondering below eye level. It's certain that she'll be watching intently for any breaks. Sometimes girls try to test your sincerity by shying their eyes away and quickly flashing back up to catch you with a creep eye where it shouldn't be. But trust me, if you've kept your eye on the prize (her soul sensing peepers) you'll have gained enough points to ask her name.
