If you're planning on selling your home, why not consider listing it on Craigslist? It may sound crazy, even ridiculous to sell your home through the Internet. Yet every day, more and more sellers are taking the Craigslist route.
The appeal of Craigslist is its simple-to-use, straightforward interface. If your home is cleaned up and ready for showing, you can list it (by owner) through Craigslists' real estate sales section. And if you're a broker, you can post your listings as well to increase sales and exposure. Here's how to do it:
1) Point your Web browser to http://www.craigslist.org.
2) In the left hand navigation pane, click login to go to the Account Log In page.
3) Enter your e-mail address and password, then click the Log In button. If you don't have a Craigslist account, you will need to create one.
4) At the top right hand side of the home of (your e-mail) page, you'll see the post new ad in drop down list. Click Choose, then select your city, state, or country from the list. (Note: once you select your city, state, or country, Craigslist will log you on for your area from now on.)
5) Click go to go to the create posting page.
6) In the top left of your display, click (your city) craigslist to go to the general Craigslist page for your city.
7) Under the housing column, click real estate for sale to go to the real estate-all listing page. Notice that listings are identified as either by owner or by broker.
8) At the top right hand side of the page, click post to go to the create posting page.
9) Under Are you offering space/housing, or do you need space/housing?, click I am offering housing to go to the next screen.
10) Under Please choose a category:, click either real estate-by broker or real estate-by owner to go to the next screen.
11) Under choose the area nearest you, select the city or sub-region where you live to go to the create posting screen. (Note: depending on what city you live in, you may be taken to the Which of these locations fits best? screen where you select your sub-area.)
12) In the top line, type the posting title. For example, $192000 North Dallas 4BR/3BA, Prestigious Location.
13) Enter the selling price of the home.
14) Enter the specific location where you live. For example, if you live in Reston, Virginia which is a suburb of Washington, D.C., you would type Reston.
15) In the Posting Description box, type the description of the home. Don't be afraid to get "markety" with your wording. Highlight all the features of the home: energy efficiency,
