How to tell if you're a flaky employee

for you and stick to it until it becomes a habit. Finding someone who has great organizational skills, and asking that person for help will also go a long way in helping you keep things together.

GOOFY: There is, unfortunately, no cure for being goofy as of yet. However, in its proper time and place, it can be most charming. The goal for you is to know when the proper time and place is. Silly remarks at a corporate meeting probably would not be advised, while the same remarks at an informal office luncheon might be just fine. Know appropriate time and place and, if in doubt, use the Flaky Person's Golden Rule. "It is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a flake, than to open it and remove all doubt."

In the end, what many flaky employees find is that the qualities that people think are "flaky" are really manifestations of Adult Attention Deficit Disorder. If you are sick of being the odd man out or the one who is always passed up for promotions because of your odd ways, seek medical help and find out if there is actually a problem that can be diagnosed and treated.

While it these steps won't eliminate all the flakiness, would you really want it to anyway? After all, being unique and special is charming; you just have to be able to be yourself and hold down a job, too!
